Launching a Sake Seltzer

Hape Sake came to Modifly for help launching their brand in the digital space. In a saturated market of hard seltzers, Hape took a new approach with a sake base and unique flavors that were hard to find on the shelves of liquor stores. Our job was to bring their vision to life, while differentiating them from competitors in the space. We concepted and designed their web experience, email and digital newsletters, and social media presence, while also defining their brand guidelines.

The Ask
The client wanted their brand to feel light, bright, and non-conventional. It was important to highlight the key product benefits like zero added sugar and all natural ingredients. The brand should feel playful and approachable, and appeal to both male and female consumers. And most importantly, we needed to fine tune their brand identity; since we were only given packaging designs, we had to develop messaging and visual standards that could be used across everything from digital and print assets moving forward.
The Outcome
Hape Sake’s site brings consumers to their happy place; inspiration for the final designs came from the idea of escapism and the euphoric feelings drinkers have when consuming sake. We brought sunsets and cloud visuals across web and social, and animated cans and ingredients to float effortlessly in their space. We defined a brand that aimed to make drinkers feel care-free, while embracing pure happiness and joy. On socials and email, we educated followers on what makes Hape Sake different; from the ingredients to the Junmai sake and everything in-between.
